Luminara Sculpture
Luminara, a striking sculpture carved from rare Rosa Portugale marble, is a reflection of my deep connection to both the sea and the fire that shapes life. The piece is inspired by the flowing, sinuous fronds of Pacific kelp, symbolizing the ocean’s ever-moving rhythm. The undulating movement of the sculpture mimics the fluidity of water, with verdant striations running through the soft pink marble—evoking the vitality and transformation of the ocean’s depths. The green veins also suggest an eternal thread of life, bridging the natural world with the raw, elemental power of flame.
The title Luminara is derived from the Italian tradition of luminaria, referring to ceremonial lights offered to the divine or departed. It signifies illumination, both literal and metaphorical, as the sculpture represents a beacon of inner light. Fire and water meet in the sculpture’s curves, the flame becoming a wave, the wave becoming a flame—a dynamic fusion of opposites that speaks to the life force connecting all things. Luminara invites viewers to reflect on the delicate balance between passion and tranquility, the visible and the hidden, as it rises, grounded yet ascending, in a powerful display of nature’s eternal dance
